"We and Me" Mother Support Group

Target audience: Mothers whose children have emotional and behavioral problems

Number of slots: 8

Number of sessions: 8 sessions, 2 hours each

Introduction: "We and Me" is a self-growth workshop designed for mothers. It explores how women are influenced by their motherhood role, family of origin, and socio-cultural factors, leading them to question their ability to fulfill motherhood, neglect their own needs, experience low self-esteem, and find it difficult to establish effective boundaries with others. The group will help participants rediscover themselves, build confidence as women, become more self-loving, and accumulate the energy to navigate the highs and lows of parenthood.

I used to think that I owed my children a debt growing up in a single-parent family.

Now I know that I have done enough and I have a clear conscience. You can face your children calmly. Being kind to yourself is no longer a burden. Learning and learning to be kind to yourself is a necessity for a happy life. Only when you are happy can you give happiness to those around you.

— Group participation of parents

I have always wanted to play the role of a good mother, but I would worry about other people's opinions and the consequences. If my daughter did not do well, I would blame myself. I would feel wronged if I did not understand people and the world.

After these few weeks in the group, it turns out that I can lower my self-esteem, be my own person, and speak confidently to others. I have to take care of myself first, and if I have enough rest and strength, I can handle my daily work.

— Group participation of parents

I was actually very confused about setting boundaries before. Here, I couldn’t explain things that were not my business. I firmly refused. I felt much better inside, and now I felt less guilty.

When classmates share, they first see their own blind spots and make changes. They also appreciate their own strengths and reflect on the small things they want to change. I really appreciate this girl's personalized course, so flexible and tailor-made. This course made us love ourselves more, affirm ourselves, and benefited a lot.

"Observation, Appreciation, Emotion, and Action" Parent Group

Target audience: Parents of individuals aged 12 or older who are affected by autism spectrum disorder (hereinafter referred to as autistic individuals).

Number of slots: 8

Number of sessions: 8 sessions, 2.5 hours each

Introduction: Parents' mental and physical health directly impacts their relationship with their autistic children, playing a crucial role in the overall intervention process. We believe that with appropriate training, parents can not only improve their parent-child relationship but also alleviate the family's caregiving burden. The "Observe, Appreciate, Emotion, and Act Parent Group" is a parenting training group specifically designed for parents of children with autism. Based on theories such as Role Theory, Positive Behavior Support, and Mindfulness, it aims to enhance parents' effectiveness in four supportive roles: observer, rewarder, empathizer, and companion. During the group's development, trials, and implementation, over 100 parents participated. In addition to high praise from parents, objective data analysis also demonstrated that the training was significantly effective in improving participants' parenting skills. The research results were also published in the academic journal Frontiers in Psychology in July 2022.
